The ICube laboratory celebrates its 10th anniversary

On June 28, Télécom Physique Strasbourg's ICube Strasbourg laboratory, supported by the Carnot Télécom & Société numérique institute, celebrated its tenth anniversary. The Institut Carnot TSN was present at this landmark event. The celebration was an opportunity to look back on the creation, development and significant successes of the laboratory dedicated to research at the service of society. Researchers and external partners shared their impressions of these first ten years. The event also provided an opportunity to hear from former students who are now working all over the world, both in universities and in the corporate world.

The Engineering, Computer Science and Imaging Laboratory (ICube - CNRS/Unistra/INSA Strasbourg/Engees/INRIA Grand Est) celebrates its tenth anniversary.

Created in 2013, ICube is a joint research unit of CNRS, the University of Strasbourg, INSA Strasbourg, ENGEES and INRIA. It is mainly affiliated with two CNRS institutes. The laboratory focuses on two disciplines: engineering, with an emphasis on physical devices, and software- and algorithm-related computing, with imaging (high-speed cameras, image processing, modeling, etc.) as a unifying theme.

Having started out with 350 permanent and non-permanent members, the laboratory now boasts over 700 members. A partner of the Faculty of Medicine and the Institut Hospitalier Universitaire de Strasbourg, ICube also brings together teaching researchers from four Strasbourg engineering schools: Télécom Physique Strasbourg, Institut National des Sciences Appliquées de Strasbourg (INSA Strasbourg), École Nationale du Génie de l'Eau et de l'Environnement de Strasbourg (Engees) and Icam Strasbourg-Europe.

In terms of research, ICube is organized around six cross-functional themes: industry of the future and smart factories; instrumentation, sensors and analysis; medical and surgical imaging and robotics; scientific computing; environment and sustainable development and, finally, artificial intelligence.

The ICube laboratory, a member of the Carnot Télécom & Société numérique institute, brings together two scientific clusters in equal measure: the Institut Carnot and the Institut Télécom & Société numérique.

[BELLE HISTOIRE] AI to optimize robot-assisted knee osteoarthritis surgery

As part of a thesis conducted with Ganymed Robotics and LaTIM (a laboratory under the joint supervision of IMT Atlantique, a component school of the Carnot TSN institute), Anna Gounot is developing AI models capable of predicting the state of knee cartilage from scanner images, in order to improve the precision of prosthesis fitting to treat osteoarthritis.

[VIDEO] Hadaptic Evident: an experimental platform at the heart of digital health

At the crossroads of digital technologies, healthcare and applications, the Hadaptic Evident platform at Télécom SudParis, a component school of the Carnot TSN institute, is a unique experimentation and co-innovation facility. Awarded the label of the Carnot institute Télécom & Société numérique, it is a concrete illustration of the ability of academic research to respond to the major societal challenges linked to autonomy, ageing and well-being.
