A look back at the Paris Air Show, one year after the signing of a framework agreement between IMT and Esaris Industries

The 54th Paris Air Show came to a close a few days ago, leaving the order books nicely filled. The show played host to the setting of a historic record for an Airbus 320 order. The Indian company Indigo signed the largest volume contract ever concluded in civil aviation, with a quantity of 500 Airbus A320s for a total sum of $55 billion. To keep pace and deliver on time, aircraft manufacturers must redouble their efforts amid a shortage of electronic components and materials, as well as recruitment difficulties in the aeronautics and space sector. One year after the signing of their framework agreement, Institut Mines-Telecom (IMT) and Esaris Industries are innovating to meet these growing market needs.

This strategic collaboration between IMT, a leading research and higher education institution in France, recipient of the TSN Carnot Institute label , and Esaris Industries, a mid-cap experiencing constant and sustained growth, specialized in electrical components for aerospace, aeronautics and railways, has created exciting new perspectives for technological development and entrepreneurship.  In June 2022, the two entities signed a Strategic Corporate Partnership laying the foundations for fruitful cooperation and symbiosis between the academic and industrial worlds. One year later, IMT and Esaris shared a stand at the Paris Air Show in Le Bourget to showcase their collaboration.

Research, training, innovation and transfer. These are key values shared by these two partners who aim to address several issues, including labor shortages and difficulties in recruiting young employees. To meet this challenge, IMT and Esaris Industries are working in partnership to ensure the recovery of the aviation sector. By encouraging research and technological innovation, this collaboration promotes the creation of highly skilled jobs in the high-tech sector. In addition, the new technological solutions developed through this cooperation can help solve societal challenges and strengthen the competitiveness of French companies on a global scale.

The Paris Air Show was also an opportunity for IMT to demonstrate that the group of schools offers a true continuum of training, research, innovation and transfer. This continuum has paved the way for this innovative partnership, combining research and engineering projects, internships, apprenticeships and joint efforts aimed at raising awareness among young people about the industrial world and the opportunities it has to offer.

The Strategic Corporate Partnership between Institut Mines-Telecom and Esaris Industries therefore marked the start of promising collaboration in the field of technological innovation. This alliance between the academic institution and the industrial company creates unique opportunities for research, knowledge transfer and the promotion of entrepreneurship. Together, IMT and Esaris Industries are well-positioned to push back technological boundaries and make significant contributions to France’s scientific and economic progress in the years to come.
